LIVING in LISBON – Our FIRST WEEK in Portugal!

by Melissa "Work those glutes" Boyd

We’ve finally arrived in Portugal, and getting settled into our new home has been quite the journey. From unpacking our belongings to adjusting to the time difference, it’s been quite the adventure. But we’re finally here and ready to explore our new surroundings.

We kick off our first day in Lisbon by walking by the Jerónimos Monastery, also known as the Mosteiro dos Jerónimos. This beautiful historic site is a must-see for any traveler visiting Lisbon. As we walked by, we couldn’t help but admire the stunning architecture and take in all of the rich histories.

After our stroll by the Monastery, we took a trek to a local grocery store called Continente Bom Dia. Now, I know what you’re thinking, “Why on earth would you go grocery shopping on your first day?” But trust me, it’s always fun to experience the local culture, and what better way to do that than by visiting a grocery store? Plus, we needed to stock up on some essentials for our new home.

Later in the week, we explored the Campo de Ourique district. And let me tell you, and it did not disappoint. The streets were lined with charming shops and cafes, and the atmosphere was lovely. We even treated ourselves to a vegan Pastel de Nata (Portuguese custard tart), which was delicious.

As the week went on, Michael decided it was time for a much-needed haircut and beard trim. And let’s be real. He was overdue for a trim. After the haircut, we celebrated with a cheeky half-pint of Guinness. It was the perfect end to a perfect day.

Overall, this video is a day-in-the-life type of video. We’re a family trying to navigate a new country and figure things out while having zero energy from jet lag. But, despite the challenges, we love every minute of our time in Lisbon. Thank you for joining us on our adventure. With love from Lisbon, Melissa, Michael, and Samantha.
